Jojo Mayer, world-reknowned drummer for Nerve, has teamed up with Sonor to develop the Perfect Balance Pedal. Over the past several decades, bass pedals developed a heavier initial stroke to provide more sound as musical genres continued to become louder and more aggressive. This heaviness comes at a cost, however - the resulting feel is unbalanced, with a fast downward motion but a sluggish rebound. Jojo wanted a pedal with the feel of vintage, balanced pedals, but with the technology available in today's high-end pedals. Here's what he and Sonor came up with:
The TAMA 200 Series Iron Cobra Single Bass Drum Pedal offers extremely high performance quality at an affordable price. This pedal features a power glide cam, beater angle adjustment, spring tension adjustment, and the patented spring tight.
Power Glide Cam: The 200 Series Iron Cobra Pedal uses a single chain and uses the offset cam shape also found in the Iron Cobra 900 Series Power Glide. This shape provides a smooth and light feel without sacrificing power and volume.
Beater Angle Adjustment: This pedal features beater/footboard adjustments that unlike anything else you'll find in this price range. The HP200P comes standard with an angle adjustment system linked to the footboard angle, this allows the player to set the pedal to play to their exact specification.
Spring Tension Adjustment: A specially shaped nut keeps the spring unit from loosening after hours of playing.
The HP30 utilizes the same offset cam design as the Iron Cobra Power Glide. The offset cam offers increased power and speed as the beater reaches the end of the stroke. The beater angle can be easily adjusted, a feature that is usually found only on more expensive pedals. The DS30 beater offers two different sounds: by rotating the beater head, you can choose felt for a softer controlled sound, or plastic for a louder and punchier sound.
The Cobra Jr. was developed with the same design concept as the Iron Cobra, offering high performance at an affordable price. The new flat surface of the footboard offers enhanced control for slide technique, and the re-designed Power Glide cam shape allows for much lighter and smoother footwork. Both the HP300 and HP300TW can be retrofitted for even faster footboard return with TAMA's Cobra Coil.
The Tama Iron Cobra 600 Series Single Bass Drum Pedal features one of the most unique features in the Iron Cobra Line. Featuring the Duo Glide Cam which, with a simple adjustment, let's the player change between a true round Rolling Glide sprocket and an off-set Power Glide sprocket. This allows drummers to choose a pedal action based on preference, venue, or musical style.
This pedal also features a Double Chain Drive for extra durability and smoother motion.
There is now a newly designed hinge featuring a brass pipe for the sleeve of the shaft for a more precise motion and added durability.
The Speedo-Ring replaces another source of unnecessary friction.
The Para-Clamp adjusts with the angle of the bass drum so the player can be sure the pedal with stay flat on the ground.
The patented Spring Tight is a half-moon shaped spring tension rod that keeps the spring from twisting and losing tension.
Iron Cobra Bass Pedals have been around for quite some time, and their design has always been evolving ever since their introduction in 1994. These pedals have several features that cannot be found on other products:
Iron Cobra Speed Pedals are designed to meet the needs of today's speed drummers, without the typical loss of power. These pedals have several features that cannot be found on other products:
