This Black Swamp 5" x 14" Multisonic Solid Shell Snare Drum is a super-high quality instrument, and is one of the nicest drums available on the market today. The specialized hardware is too intricate to list in paragraph form, so detailed information about parts can be found below.- Custom tube lugs - Solid brass, rattle-free construction that resonates with the shell. The lugs are custom made to exacting standards so the tension rods align perfectly in line with the hoop and lug.
- Interior Finish - both sides of the shell, inner and outer, are finished to minimize any changes in moisture that might occur from the environment.
- Solid Shell - Each shell is steam bent from a single hand-picked wood plank, then the inside and outside surfaces are lathed for a perfectly round drum shell. Reinforcement rings are used to ensure the drum will remain round, and have a 45 degree bevel on both the inner and outer portions, enhancing the resonance of the internal chamber.
- Multisonic Snare Strainer - this flagship innovation allows you to choose different combinations of snare cable or wire to completely change the timbre of the drum. Simply, quietly, and instantly switch from an aggressive roar to a delicate whisper, without tools of any kind. The Multisonic is cleverly designed to fit five independently activated and tensioned snare systems within a standard snare gate. While the active snare systems are engaged against the snare head, the inactive systems remain at rest and completely out of contact with the head, and do not make any extraneous noise. The strainer is not mounted flat against the shell, but is suspended away from the shell for increased shell resonance. The butt side has a Master Tuning Knob which enables you to instantly change the tension of all snare units together. Snare types include: Gold Cable, Blue Cable, Stainless Wire, Wire Wound, and Curly Wire.
