18"x10" Soloist Doumbek, Turquoise Metalized Finish
Jamal Mohamed, master doumbek player, helped to create this signature instrument. The shells are made from indestructable fiberglass and the head is synthetic, making it impervious to travel and weather conditions. The weight is just right - not heavy enough to become a true burden, but with enough mass to balance correctly and feel good while performing. The head is tensioned correctly for an appropriate amount of pitch changing, and the shape of the drum retains the deep doums and high teks from which this drum gets its namesake. As a final touch, the shell is hand-painted to give the drum a metallic look.
