The Paul Rekow Congas are medium-range instruments made with quality LP hardware. The shells are crafted from 3 plies of wood, wrapped in tiger-print fabric, and stand 30" tall. Comfort Curve II rims, reinforced side plates, integrated shell protectors, and natural rawhide heads.Raul Rekow has played congas with Carlos Santana since 1976, participating in the groundbreaking melding of Latin, rock and funk styles that characterizes the band's history. For nearly thirty years Rekow has added his pulsating and colorful rhythms to the Santana sound, captivating audiences on five continents. Initially self-taught, Rekow learned about Cuban percussion from fellow Santana veterans Armando Peraza and Orestes Vilato.A portion of all profits made from these drums is donated by Paul to the Big Cat Encounters Foundation.
