Ludwig originally introduced the Club Date series of drum sets back in 1962 as a low-cost alternative to the Super Classic series. The primary change was the development of the central-mounted, dual sided lug and extra-long tension rods, which reduced manufacturing time. Original Club Date drums are highly prized among collectors for their warm, dry vintage sound and the classic look. Ludwig has re-released the line as the Club Date SE series for those gigging drummers who work in small to medium-sized venues and want a playable alternative to actual vintage gear.

Each Club Date Snare Drum features a 4-ply shell with two additional birch reinforcement rings. The central-mounted lugs give the drums a vintage look.
