Delicate and ethereal, Moonrise is a piece written for seven percussionists on pitched instruments. While each individual part is moderate in difficulty, the piece is meant to be played without a conductor; each member of the ensemble must have a very strong sense of musicality in order to play together in this often rubato work.Moonrise is written in two movements with no pause in between, and would make a lovely counterpoint to heavier, more aggressive works on any percussion ensemble concert.
"O'Carolan Suite No.2" is a fun marimba trio arranged by Paul Henle and features Irish folk songs.
Joe Beam uses layering effects and a fast-paced minimalist attitude to create a marimba quartet that constantly shifts from one intriguing sonic moment to another, written in true arch form - the title 'Palindrome' is quite literal. This piece would work well on any recital or chamber concert for moderately advanced players - and you won't have to cut things to keep the audience from zoning out!

Ensemble Adagietto Composed by Gustav MahlerArranged by Jeffrey D. Grubbs
Instrumentation: 1 vibraphone, 2 marimbas (low A) Note: each marimba is shared by two players. Alternately, four marimbas can be used.
The fourth movement of Mahler's Symphony No. 5 is commonly known as the Adagietto and is arguably his most famous single piece of music. Herbert von Karajan once said that when you hear Mahler's Fifth, "you forget time has passed." In its original form, Adagietto is played by a full string orchestra.
In this arrangement, the keyboard percussion instruments aim to imitate this lush tapestry through ongoing tremolo with soft mallets and communicate Mahler's romanticism through sensitive restraint. This piece would make for a satisfying addition to concert programs that wish to demonstrate the lyrical capabilities of percussion.
This piece comes with a full, bound score and includes all individual parts available for printing on the included CD-Rom.
Ensemble Entrance of the Queen of Sheba Composed by G.F. Handel Arranged by Brian Slawson
After opera's decline of popularity in England during the 1730's, Handel switched to writing oratorios. These were lengthy choral works without operatic staging or scenery, his most famous of these being Messiah. Another such work, Solomon, brings us the Entrance of the Queen of Sheba.
Written for mallet ensemble and two flutes, Entrance of the Queen of Sheba allows the musicians to demonstrate how well Baroque music adapts to percussion instruments. In an age where contemporary music sometimes dominates percussion concerts, this will provide a nice contrast that not only highlights the beauty of Handel's music, but welcomes the addition of woodwinds into the mix.
This arrangement of Entrance of the Queen of Sheba has been heard worldwide on the popular CD "Bach on Wood," which helped garner Brian Slawson a Grammy nomination for "Best New Classical Artist."
This piece comes with a full, bound score and includes a CD-Rom containing an audio recording and all individual parts available for printing.
Ensemble Winter Composed by A. Vivaldi Arranged by Brian Slawson

Written in his distinctive style, Winter features melodies often broken into small phrases with forceful, syncopated rhythms, making it a perfect subject for percussion adaptation.
This arrangement for Winter has been heard worldwide on the popular album, Bach on Wood which helped garner Brian Slawson a Grammy nomination for "Best New Classical Artist."
Ensemble Concerto in A Minor Composed by BachArranged by Brian Slawson
Harpsichord concerti were written throughout the Baroque era, particularly by J.S. Bach. However, this "Allegro" from Bach's Concerto for 4 Harpsichords & Strings (BWV 1065) is based on Vivaldi's Concerto for 4 Violins in B minor (RV 580). For one composer to "borrow" material from another during Bach's time was considered a flattering gesture.
Mallet instruments have much in common with the attack and decay properties of harpsichords, making arrangements such as this a natural choice. Slawson's orchestrations bring this piece to life, and it will make an excellent addition to the repertoire of any percussion ensemble wishing to highlight a Baroque selection for mallet instruments.
This arrangement of Concerto in A Minor has been heard worldwide on the popular CD "Bach on Wood," which helped garner Brian Slawson a Grammy nomination for "Best New Classical Artist.
