The column lugs are made from hand-tooled stainless steel, and the 1:9 bearing edge allows the heads to vibrate as much as possible. Sonic Saver Hoops are also included- riding somewhere between a die cast hoop and a triple-flanged hoop; they provide the stability to give the drum very powerful rim shots, but are light enough to not hinder the vibrations of the shell. Tom mounting hardware - typically a bass drum mount - will be included with mounted toms.The Mapex Saturn Special Edition shell pack is designed to be versatile in a wide range of musical venues: in the recording studio, on the small stage in the club, or rocking the giant venues. Each drum has a shell made from inner plies of walnut and exterior plies of birch (the standard Saturn shells have walnut/maple shells); made to be extra thin at 7.1mm (7.8mm for the bass drum), these wood-combination shells provide the body and fullness of walnut with the brightness and punch of birch. To further enhance the full resonance of each shell, Mapex's Isolated Mounting System has been implemented on all tom mounts - standard tom mounts are drilled and screwed into the shell of the drum, muting part of its natural resonance. Low mass lugs touch as little of the drum as possible, and only at one point, for similar reasons.Spring-loaded floor tom legs are a cool little feature - you can set the height of the drum while the feet are still on the ground, slowly lifting and letting the legs extend themselves. 2.3mm Power Hoops, Remo Emperor Clear Batter heads, and Remo P3 Batter Bass Drum heads are also included.This shell pack is available in the following finishes: Moss Green over Figured Maple, Ocean Wave over Figured Maple, Wine Burst over Figured Maple, and Walnut Fade over Figured Maple.
