The John Piper line of Mike Balter vibraphone mallets features a specially-designed impact cushion, which eliminates the clicking sound from mallet handles normally heard when using traditional or Burton grip on the instrument. Medium soft vibraphone mallets are great for playing warm, round tones with little contact sound and a great deal of fundamental from the bars. They also provide a little more edge than soft mallets, so in an ensemble setting the sound is not lost.
