Detailed description
Name X
RamPad™ sounds and feels like an actual drum. It is the only practice pad on the market that uses a Mylar head, real drum parts, steel hoop and tension rods, and aerospace polymer materials for its base.

The end result is a great sounding and durable pad that has a long performance life.

RamPad™ is the most useful rehearsal tool for solo and ensemble situations.

When communication with the conductor and other musicians is critical, RamPad™ delivers crisp articulation for an audible and productive indoor rehearsal.

Other products do not deliver a true to life experience and force the drummer to modify their approach and style.

The techniques you use in practice should be the same you use when in performance, and RamPad™ will help you achieve the consistency you're looking for.

Rampad

My son bought this pad and within a week while adjusting it the plastic base broke. Contacted the company and basically told me what an idiot my son was the way he adjusted the pad. He then tried to sell me in buying another base for about $30. Real compassionate!!! Save your money, frustration, and aggravation!!!!

Rampad RP-001

I've had the opportunity to chop out pretty extensively on the rampad recently and here are my thoughts:pros:•The biggest advantage this pad has over most other pads is the super tight articulation at low volume levels. When I play anything at 6" or lower, the overall sound produced by the stick hitting the pad is the immediate attack, and it is very clear and short-duration sound. At above 6", the sound becomes a little bit more 'full' and less 'attacky', if that makes sense.•Possible to play good sounding buzz rolls.•Light weight. I was expecting the pad to be heavy because it looks pretty bulky, but it is surprisingly light. The pad is designed to be mounted to a snare stand, but I was able to play with it sitting on a drum with out much trouble. If I played really aggressively and loud, the pad starts to bounce around a little bit. It is also possible to play with the pad on your lap, despite the slightly thicker profile than most drum pads.•Timbre variation. As you change playing zones on the pad, the timbre changes, much in the same way as when playing on an actual snare drum. If your bead placement is terrible, you will hear it because the sound will change as your beads 'wander' around the drum pad.cons:•It is loud! Your parents will probably not appreciate you playing on this pad at 1am in the morning. With that said, I understand that RamPad is coming out with a much quieter gum-rubber type surface that will be on the underside of this pad. I'm not sure if the new pads will come out with this installed, or if it will be an 'add-on' attachment.SummaryAs I listed at the top of the pros, the biggest advantage this pad has over other pads is the super articulate low-end response. For now, this will be my pad of choice when working on improving my tap-height playing control and accuracy._________________Ryan Wold http://www.snarescience.com MN Brass Inc.
