Cuicas are a Brazilian friction drum: while one hand manipulates the pressure on the head to change pitch, the other hand pulls and pushes on a small bamboo stick attached to the head on the inside, creating a very unique, voice-like sound typically found in sambas. Meinl offers an aluminum-shelled cuica, giving the instrument light weight and solid construction. The hand-selected goatskin head can be tuned with the included tuning key.
