These things are perfect for practicing anywhere. They're very quiet and are a great alternative to drum pads. They feel just like a real stick and the bounce is almost identical on most surfaces. I play the tenors, so these are great for practicing on my floor. Because I'm not constricted to just a circle, I can hit wherever I want. I got them, also, so I could practice on my desk at school, and despite getting in trouble all the time for playing instead of doing work, it works out. If you're serious about practicing, I would still recomend investing in a nice set of tenor pads of the Off World snare pad, but these are perfect for on the go.
