The cymbal’s bow area allows for a Ride sound that has lots of Ride pattern clarity and control, but with a warm shimmering quality with its overall sound.
As with the ReZo crashes, the new Bell and lathing design yields a fast yet aggressive array of overtones while maintaining the classic A Custom sound.

Zildjian A Custom cymbals are designed for the modern music world. Lying between the dark cymbals of the past and the overtly bright cymbals popularized by hard rock and metal bands, these cymbals are ‘just right’ for today’s energetic musical styles that aren’t about melting your face off. Designed with the help of legendary drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (if you don’t know that name, you’re wrong), each A Custom cymbal has been hammered with rotary techniques, is thin-to-medium in weight, and has a brilliant finish. If Baby Bear from the Goldilocks fairy-tale were a drummer, these would be his cymbals.This 21" 20th Anniversary Cymbal is only being made during 2012. It features symmetrical hammering so no matter where you hit the cymbal, the sound is the same. The bell is bright and penetrating - great for those cascara or bongo bell patterns - and riding patterns have just enough articulation without too much wash. This cymbal also features a white logo and special trademark.
The A Custom series was developed with the help of world-class drummer Vinnie Colaiuta to create a line of instruments appropriate for modern music - not too dark and not too bright. This 21" cymbal is extremely versatile, working well in a large variety of musical settings. Retaining all of the A Custom cymbal line attributes, the new 21" Anniversary Ride features symmetrical hammering, a brilliant finish, and medium weight for a balanced sound that is neither too high nor too low. The loud bell on this cymbal makes it an excellent choice for Latin styles as well.
