  • Item Details

Multitudes is a collection of multi-percussion solos that all use the same collection of instruments in the same physical setup, written to supplement the lack of intermediate-level music for multi-percussion. Many talented composers have contributed solos, including Andrew Bliss, James Campbell, Julie Hill, Robert Parks, Anders Astrand, Dan Moore, Brian Nozny, Ben Wahlund, and Eric Willie.

This collection is extremely useful to use throughout a percussion studio for lots of reasons:
    • The setup can be dedicated in a practice room for use by 9 separate students
    • Minimal or no tearing down and setting up means more practice time
    • Shared equipment means less 'stealing' from ensembles or other studio members
    • Juries and Studio Class go much more smoothly without having to deal with equipment switches
    • Light instrumentation
      • One pair bongos, one concert snare drum, one concert tom, one 'multi' bass drum
      • Optional trap table, optional cymbal stand

From the editor: Despite the importance of multi-percussion, there is a substantial gap in the pedagogical repertoire, leaving only a small selection of works for intermediate students to study. At the intermediate stage in a student's development, it is important to work on bite-size pieces, where the focus can be on sound concepts and technical development. The solos in this collection are designed to bridge the gap for percussionists who are proficient on the core instruments (snare drum, timpani, and keyboards) yet not quite ready to tackle some of the advanced solo multi-percussion repertoire that already exists. - Andrew M. Bliss

Hitting the return button after a sentence a couple of times will move your text down to the next line like this, so you can make paragraphs that are easier for people to read.
