Meanwhile in a Parallel Universe for solo marimba and percussion ensemble is an energetic, exciting ride for the players and the audience. The marimba solo part is very virtuosic, and the ensemble itself is audience-friendly and groove-based, much like Casella's other works.

The soloist part is for an advanced marimbist - they'll need to feel completely comfortable with triple laterals, independent rolls, fast and wide runs, and of course ensemble awareness. The ensemble parts are still challenging, requiring accomplished percussionists.

This piece could serve very well to highlight a particular player during a percussion ensemble concert - an advanced high school ensemble with a professional soloist, or college-level students, for example.

This piece includes the full, bound score and a data CD containing individual parts (for printing) and an mp3 recording.

From the composer: Meanwhile in a Parallel Universe is based on the idea that our brief time on this earth can have any number of outcomes depending on the relationships we build, how present we are, and the decisions we make. As our stories evolve, infinite possibilities are created. The result is an adventure filled with both uncertainty and wonder. - Jim Casella

    • Here’s where your summary shows up. You can talk about things you like about it, things you don’t, what your expectations were, what you had heard from other people, or whatever you’d like! Hitting the return button after a sentence a couple of times will move your text down to the next line like this, so you can make paragraphs that are easier for people to read.
