Cores Norte/Sul by Ricardo Souza, is a composition for percussion ensemble that works to depict the different rhythms, instrumental combinations, and timbres of North and South America.

This piece is broken up into two movements that are played back to back with no break. Movement one uses extended techniques throughout the ensemble in order to create an ethereal atmosphere that creates a swirling sound with no real sense of tempo/time.

Movement two is quite the opposite and features a rhythmic ostinato in the keyboards that works with the driving groove in the percussion parts.

This is an incredibly fun piece that is also quite challenging to achieve the extended techniques and advanced technical elements, making it best suited for a collegiate level ensemble. With a full tapestry of sounds, this piece is a guaranteed hit with all audiences.

Hitting the return button after a sentence a couple of times will move your text down to the next line like this, so you can make paragraphs that are easier for people to read.
