Hohner by David Maslanka is a masterpiece for large percussion ensemble (or percussion orchestra). Using a massive 21 players, this work is written in four distinct sections: a grieving chorale, a driving and indignant push, a reflective and bittersweet lament, and a final chorale similar to the first.

Composed as a memoriam for Robert Hohner, this piece is deeply musical and touches on the profound. The skills required per player and the sheer instrumentation needed reserve this work for strong university programs and perhaps a handful of truly astounding high schools.

A talented pianist and double bassist will be needed in order to perform Hohner, not to mention highly musical and technically strong percussionists on every other part.

This piece includes a full oversized score and individual parts.
