    The Ron Vaughn Ascend line of wood blocks are manufactured with student budgets in mind - made of Rock Maple rather than Ron's typical Cherry or Mahogany, these blocks cost far less with only a slight diminution in sound quality. Each block is tuned to a specific pitch (which is easily seen right on the block), and all are made from a solid piece of wood. The Ascend blocks have rubber feet to minimize impact sound when the block is placed on a trap table, and can be mounted with most mounting hardware.

    The C# Piccolo block is designed in the traditional Brazilian manner, with both ends of the resonating chamber open. Ron recommends playing this instrument with the PMB-1R rattan piccolo block mallet to get the best sound.
