  • Item Details

The Evans RealFeel 12" 2-Sided Practice Pad features a large natural gum rubber surface that is designed to emulate the rebound of a real snare drum, so the transition from pad to drum is as seamless as possible. Flip the pad over to use the harder rubber surface, which gives you more volume and decreases the rebound to give you a real workout.

      • Brand history/ Reputation
      • 2 pads in 1 - great price
      • Durability
    • Cons

      • The octagon shape is NOT a con, you don't drum on all edges of a SD anyways.
      • The lack of a rim is hardly a con, if you want to practice rim shots, get on a drum!:) Or be aware of your playing angles!
      • The weight is also NOT a con. Not any heavier than any other pad.

    • The O.G. of drum pads... Still around for good reason!

    • The RealFeel pad has been around for decades now in one form or another, and has established itself as an industry standard for quality practice pads. While it may not have the curb appeal as some of the newer brands, its function and creation of a realistic and beneficial playing surface, on BOTH sides, gives you the biggest bang for your buck. This pad is the real deal. The top grey gum rubber surface is great for the developing young percussionist, simulating the rebound of a concert SD, and the black backside rubber is meant to simulate a marching SD, reducing the rebound and increasing the articulation.

    • There Are Better Options For The Price!

    • When I first started out, we were required to buy these. This was all we knew for a year. Then, we started exploring different sticks, pads, mallets, and bags. So after seeing and owning other pads, this... is WAY overpriced! Let's start with the shape. Just UGG! It's hard to fit in a small bag to carry on vacations, and it bulges out! Next: weight. This thing is HEAVY! When packing for a quick trip, I needed 3 pairs of shirts, undies, and socks. Plus 2 pairs of jeans. This page weighs TWICE as much as ALL of that! So it's very heavy! The wood on this is also cheap and fragile, one drop on one of the MANY corners = bend and broken. The rubber starts coming off and it's just a hot mess. And to add to ALL of that, there's no rim! Now for some good: It's double sided, which is great. It feels amazing - just too bouncy for me personally. So bottom line, it's a 'NO' for me. There are much better options for the price that are smaller, are ROUND, have a rim, and aren't like 5 pounds.
