    Three Scenes by David J. Long is a virtuosic three movement marimba solo that is not for the faint of heart - it requires quite a lot of time in a practice room!

    The three movements all feature different styles of playing and overall feel. The first movement, Aria is a doozy. It's a challenging rolled section that's very technically demanding.

    The second movement, Interlude uses material from Aria that dances across the entirety of the keyboard. The final movement, Dance has a tough ostinato in the left hand and intricate melody lines in the right. Then they switch!

    This piece would be an excellent way to show off virtuosic marimba playing skills and requires 4-mallets and a 4.5-octave marimba.
