The IP240 uses polished birch shafts for comfortable grip and control, and is a great general mallet for marimba.

The IP240 mallets sound great at all registers of the marimba, and are a great choice in both solo literature or educational settings! The IP240 is identical to the IP240N except for the polished birch shafts.

    • Great for soloist and concert settings. Very rounded and soft tone. I personally like the polished birch shaft and it fits my needs. Easy to control and grip.

    • For the price, your getting something that's just amazing, These are medium, so they won't sound too great on the top octave. They are a nice blue color, and mine lasted almost 3 years. If I didn't take them apart to try and make my own mallets, they would have lasted 3 more - easily. And I am a marimba guy - I play marimba WAY more than the snare, and mine were used daily. My only gripe would be the handles, which are finished. I get very nervous easily, and I sweat quite a bit. So after playing in front of the class they were butter sticks. But if you are lucky and are dry - handed, the finish looks very nice. So bottom line, YES! If you are considering getting these, whether you're a pro or newbie, I recommend them over and over again!
